ANZAC Day 2010

Anzac-day-2010

This is the ANZAC ceremony at The Armidale School (TAS) 2010.

For me ANZAC day is about respect for individuals. I could fill up many dinner parties with diatribes about war/politics/resources. But today is about the people that offered up their lives so that I could live the life I have today. Commemorating the service of ANZACs from World World 1 to today. We thank you, Lest We Forget.

Armidale Rain

Armidale-rain

We thought Armidale was a dry place. We had travelled through the New England tablelands of NSW before moving here. Our impression was of vast expanses with dry yellow paddocks and rocky outcrops.
In recent times however it has had its fair share of rain. Large volume, consistent rain over a 2-3 day period.
Get your watertanks set up and take advantage of these events and you are your garden will be fine.

The Blue Hole - Gara Gorge, Armidale

Blue_hole_armidale

Found another Armidale gem today. The Blue Hole, located in the Oxley Wild
Rivers National Park, 16kms from Armidale along the Castledoyle Road.
Another great picnic area and walking trails, but the main attraction is
the swimming holes.

It is also the site of Australia's first commercial Hydro-electric Scheme,
to view it you take the Threlfall Historic Walk.
